Is track 1 on this release the UK radio edit ("Faces, faces everywhere..") version or the regular version ("People, people all over town…")?referencing Faces (12", 33 ⅓ RPM) BYTE 12024
Thank god they decided to keep the riff from the original album mix for the Extended version. I never liked the soft Alex Party style riff on the radio edit.
But even still, for me the best version of Faces is the X-Out Remix. As always, Andy Janssens makes the track his own.
For this remix, he goes down an almost industrial route. The riff is made even rougher, and the rhythm is pounding. This is offset by the melodic touches in the breakdowns, but fear not as he soon reintroduces the main riff but with an even more evil minor key vibe!
It's a fucking amazing remix, I've always loved it and I still do. Techno purists laugh at 2 Unlimited, but to be fair I don't care at all. I love "proper" Techno, but I hold no grudge against commercial dance music as long as it is produced with invention and flair. Which this track has in abundance.
The X-Out remix of Faces is simply incredible.
