Just open the back cover, it's glass, be careful. You detach a few cables and replace. Watch a video or two on YouTube. Best of luck

Pretty solid machine. I have been waiting for Nokia to release same or better. Sadly they never did. Mine is now slowing down and no android 13. Nokia could have done better with support for this awesome device.

I bought Nokia 8.3 5G from Qatar last year on my way to Ethiopia. After 6 months the C type charing port stoped working. I couldn't find Nokia agent to fix it nor find wirless charger to buy. I regreated the decison i made to buy the phone. That was a mistake. I still would like to have any help to solve the phone's problem

I bought it from Qatar last year on my way to Ethiopia. I used it for 6 months and the C type charging port stoped wotking. I couldn't get any one to fix it nor find wireless charger to buy in Ethiopia. I regreated for bying the phone Nokia 8.3 5G

Fast phone big screen, decent camera, good choice for the price, Android 12 is fine don't worry about that, SD card expansion and 5g a bit of a bargain really

It is still a very good device, mine runs very well (besides a bug with audio recording) and the battery has retained capacity, but the last security update for the 8.3 will be November 2023 so I would not advise buying unless you are a collector.

it says 2 years of android updates, so now after 4 years of launching this device, If I buy it now, do I get the latest Android or is it useless and the device will be too slow or outdated? any ideas?!!

I contacted Nokia but nothing they told me from the chat had worked, so they asked me to send it to their workshop, but the Nokia ebuilder site asks me for 100€ for repair so I opened a case via the chat again, to be continued…

The 8.3 has always been pretty buggy since it's release, it feels like there were perhaps a lot of issues behind the scenes with this device and HMD just want it to go away.
It really should have been updated to Android 13, HMD seem to have done a much better job with their updates compared with 12. I have the X30, XR20 and X20 and they all work very well after Android 13 (especially the X20 after a couple of build updates).
There is also a workaround for the audio recording issues in the HMD camera app on the 8.3, if microphone permissions are disabled for the Google app then the audio is no longer muffled and distorted. Not ideal, but at least the phone can be used for videography as intended again.

Solved it!! Seems there's a bug. The conflict appears while keeping the "Screen attention" on (within the "Screen timeout"). Somehow the conditions weren't written well enough 😂😄 but it's ok. Shlt happens! Lol
I had to think a little. Cause if Screen Attention is on, then if you're not looking at it, the screen goes off, but the torch should normally not be affected by this function.

Dr. Watson, 10 May 2023I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being the last... moreUnfortunately HMD are leaving the 8.3 with broken audio recording in the default camera app. The bug was introduced with the Android 12 update and has never been fixed - and on a phone that was marketed for its videography features.
In hindsight the 8.3 was underrated because it was late to market because of COVID and the marketing tie-in with James Bond. When it was finally released 6 months after being announced competitors had undercut it on price. It has also had a number of software bugs during it's lifespan, especially with the camera.
I actually think the X20 is a good device despite being very disappointed when it was announced. It has proven to be the most reliable phone I have used since the Lumia 1020, I also think that the main camera is better than the X30 in auto-mode for daylight images, despite the smaller sensor and lack of OIS.
