Asus is a one other hold out though.

I don't like the pill style at all either, so for me that rules out Google and Motorola.

Samsung should think about the inner screen, it should make inner screen more than 8 inches. Or else Samsung will lag behind like Nokia in foldables.

Take my S21 FE for example. It has snapdragon 888 and 8gb Ram but the phone lags and stutters especially when switching between background apps with gestures. And the phone often fail to keep big apps in the the background bcos oneui and countless samsung apps already occupied a huge chunk of the 8gb ram when running.

Also, as far as I know the only vendors that released their foldsbles outside China is just Samsung, OnePlus, Honor, and Google. And we know OnePlus, Honor, and Google's market are not as big as Samsung.

Presumably trying to jump the gun on the Pixel Fold 2/iPhone 16 and eat into their sales a bit. Samsung haven't invested in their flagships for years now. Their sales subsist on aggressive marketing and negligible 'match-up' upgrades. Despite the declining competition in Android space, Samsung's market share will continue to slowly decline.

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2024You and other here need to understand. Samsung and Appl... moreOverall, you're spot on. The Mate X has great hardware, but Huawei is riding nationalism right now and the Z's hardware has been "inferior" since January 2020 when the Razr debuted with a teardrop hinge.

Samsung has more or less stood still while other fold manufacturers had 5 years to take over pushing hardware and they simply can't do it. I don't think the Pixel and Open combined has sold 50k.

I'll only disagree about sales. Samsung said they missed their sales target with the Z5 so they weren't happy about the initial release. The Z Fold still outsold all other book folds combined, but Samsung wants yearly growth. By now, they should have been selling 20+ million foldables.

Samsung and Apple do not care if phones of other are considered better or worse.
They care about how much money they are making.
They do not care if they have to sell same phone year after year.

Clients in China choose to pay over $2400 on Huawei Mate X/Xs , those with lame outer foldable type than paying 30-40% less for foldables from Vivo, Xiaomi and Oppo.

If samsung is satisfied with how many Z phones are sold, do you really think samsung is gonna waste money on putting 6000mAh, periscope, 1/1.3" 200MP etc on Z Fold?
With these or without, gonna sell same amount.

Look at market availability of Chinese phones, they are sold only in handful of countries only,so obviously they can't sell as much.

Apple iPhones (particularly base iPhones) are highest sold models each year then does it mean that base iPhone is a better device compared to other brand flagships costing same?

                                        1.BLOATWARE
OneUI is among the most bloated UIs among all smartphone brands & that is not something you'd like to see in a flagship device.
Can you believe that there are 2 copies of most of apps that do similar thing (1 copy from GMS & 1 copy from Samsung's own) along with a plethora of Pre-installed apps/services that are impossible to delete/disable.

                                        2. INTEGRATION/COMPATIBILITY
Even among the Pre-installed apps & services, most of them are only compatible with another Samsung product. That compatibility/integration with others is as good as non-existent...Even a Stock Android phone will connect much easier to other brand product than any Samsung phone.

                                        3. DESIGN
OneUI is in 6th edition now & still its very inconsistent. At some places it feels like designed for one hand use while at other,it feels cluttered, impossible for one hand use, like Notification panel after 6.0 update-it takes up entire screen area even on Ultra display sizes.
Also Design looks very much outdated,it's almost the same design from OneUI 1.0 h made very little progress.Just look at Pixel UI,it looks much more refreshing & modern.

                                        4. UI ANIMATION,RESPONSE
Design aside,OneUI feel quite sluggish to use as well even on a flagship device. Compared to touchwiz era, things are much better as UI has improved quite a bit h SoCs have become vastly more powerful but still Samsung is far behind UI responsiveness compared to Stock UIs like Pixel & Nothing UI.
Similar story with Animations as well as it doesn't even feel like using 120Hz Display.

If I were to compare OneUI to iOS then I'd say that while iOS looks dated but its much more consistent & Animations, responsiveness is much better.

So with all that said hope next OneUI updates clears some bloatware & unnecessary services or make them uninstallable atleast while focusing heavily on UI responsiveness, animations & Design consistency.
