This is not to mention the stars and playmates who graced the covers of Playboy magazine during his reign.

Many have reacted swiftly to this news, and heartfelt tributes quickly spread across social media.

Paris Hilton posted photos of the pair together, calling Hefner a “legend,” “innovator,” and “one of a kind.”
