Comic strips tell a story mainly through the use of illustrations. Here’s a list of key features that you should include in your comic strip to keep readers engaged:

• minimal narration;
• colourful illustrations that tell the story;
• captions to show where or when the action is taking place;
• onomatopoeic words to demonstrate sound effects;
• speech and thought bubbles to show characters’ speech, thoughts and feelings.
