A Twilight TV series reboot is reportedly in the works from Lionsgate, The Hollywood Reporter shared on April 19. If you missed out on the Team Edward or Team Jacob drama the first time, looks like you'll have another opportunity to participate in the fandom.

The reported Twilight series will turn the film franchise (and original novels by Stephenie Meyer) into a television show format. THR doesn't have a ton of details yet — no network or writer news. Meyer is rumored to be attached in some fashion.

Twilight spanned five movies that came out between 2008 an 2012, and elevated an already popular book series into forever cultural icon status. It also made $3.4 billion worldwide, so the reason for the reboot is clear. (Money.)

Stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner were also launched into stratospheric fame, and all three have since spoken about the impact the series had on their lives. Robert shared in previous interviews that the series was misunderstood, and that it might be better read as an “existential art house film.” Perhaps future Twilight show episodes can expand on his ideas about the plot.

“It’s a weird story, Twilight, It’s not just like — it’s strange how people responded a lot to it," Robert said in 2019. "I guess the books are very romantic, but at the same time, it’s not like The Notebook romantic. The Notebook is very sweet and heartbreaking, but Twilight is about this guy, and he finds the one girl he wants to be with, and he also wants to eat her. I mean, not eat her, but drink her blood or whatever. It’s not that other people are telling them they can’t be together, it’s his own body telling him that.”

Meanwhile, the Twilight show news comes on the heels of another controversial, high profile reboot, as Max (formerly HBO Max) announced plans to turn the Harry Potter book series into a “faithful” TV adaptation with a new cast (and unfortunate involvement from J.K. Rowling). There really are no new ideas left, huh.
