Another day, another Twilight podcast revelation we never knew we needed. This time, OG Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is reimagining the quintessential vampiric rom-com with none other than Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi as leads.

Catherine Hardwicke recently stopped by Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast to celebrate Twilight's 15th anniversary with a special watch-along episode full of behind-the-scenes stories from the 2008 production — from the famously shelved jet-ski action movie script to the process of casting the characters that audiences would go on to love (and hate) throughout five movies.

Halfway into the episode, Horowitz asks Hardwicke about what things she'd approach differently if Twilight were to be remade in this day and age, and, of course, the conversation soon turns into dream casting.

Without hesitating one bit, Hardwicke agrees that Euphoria and Priscilla Jacob Elordi would be "perfect" to play Edward Cullen. "Have you seen Saltburn? He's amazing. He probably would be Edward today," the director adds. (Well, he does have a history with teen films!)

When asked if any new-generation actresses feel like standouts, like Kristen Stewart in the '00s, Hardwicke agrees that Wednesday and Scream star Jenna Ortega is amazing. And there you go, you got your 2020's Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Now, can you imagine the "spider monkey" forest scene with Elordi and Ortega's height difference?!

Of course, a Twilight reimagining is not just an idea these days. As Hardwicke hints during the episode, there is a Twilight series reportedly in the works — and things could get wild.

While Hardwicke admits she doesn't know much about the approach the potential new series could take or how faithful it could remain to the original franchise, she has a couple of ideas. "For me, it'd be fun to do Twilight in outer space. I'd be ecstatic to do that. Something totally different," she said before noting the writers strike has probably delayed the development of the series.

Elsewhere in the episode, which you can watch below, Hardwicke also reminisces about crashing Robert Pattinson's 37th birthday party with Kristen Stewart, shares more details on the iconic baseball scene, and even opens up about the hardest scenes to film.
