Remember Twitter's Fail Whale?

Remember Twitter's Fail Whale?

Surely those of you who ever used Twitter in it's infancy remember the "fail whale". This cute little image showed up on your page because they never imagined getting the amount of traffic they did. Even some of the largest companies have failed at preparing their site for scalability (i.e. major spikes in traffic). Being in marketing (for a dev company, no less) I understand when the marketing department throws their hands up and says "not my problem". And then the IT department comes back and says well Marketing should have informed us of the possible implications of the campaign they ran.

The truth is, scalability is something we all need to think about and prepare for. I mean, after all, it is the goal of every business to grow, right? Anymore, you have to have a good web presence for your business to grow, so you need to be thinking about whether or not your site is prepared to handle such growth.

Join us next Tuesday, May 24th at COSE in Cleveland for a nice discussion on how to properly set your site up for long-term growth. You wouldn't want your customers to have to experience the "Fail Whale" would you? Register with the link below: (we'll even feed you!)
