Twitter crashed for more than an hour Tuesday. Without any way to tweet about the crash, users flooded Facebook with posts.

Tracking site Pingdom shows that Twitter was down from 11:59 a.m. through 1:08 p.m. EST and again from 1:42 p.m. through 2:08 p.m. EST.

It is too soon to tell if the website has worked the kinks our regarding the outages. Around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday the site crashed for a third time.

The crash Tuesday reminded users of the "Fail Whale" error message of the past when Twitter experienced outages much more frequently. This incident seems to be a minor blip compared to those experienced in the past.

Still, Twitter's loyal following switched social networking sites to voice their concerns of the crash:

Evan Codamon: Twitter crash one more time. I dare you.

Lina Maria Camrath: And for the third time in 2 1/2 hours the Twitter servers go down!...

Lindsay Renkel: Twitter went down and I thought it was the end of the world.

Matthew McKnight: 'Crash once, shame on you. Crash twice, shame on me' ~ Twitter

Alysson Watson: glad I was awake to catch the aftermath of the twitter crash. Lordy, addicts went crazy!

Larry Armando Rios: The Twitter site is down. I don't know why, but I hope they fix the issue quick

Alec Thavychith: While Twitter was down, everyone on Twitter was on Facebook complaining that Twitter was down. When Twitter came back, everyone went on Twitter complaining about getting on Facebook. While all this madness was happening, I was just watching TV. LOL

According to CNNMONEY, the outage Tuesday was the longest disruption in service since an hour-long crash on October 7, 2011, which was a month filled with hundreds of very brief outages reported in Pingdom's data.
