Kagome walked into the forest unaware that there were any warnings to heed. This was her first time visiting grandpa’s shrine, and it took only two days before she was eagerly volunteering to run an errand, any errand, if only to leave the stifling village and get away from the gossipy housewives. Both her mother and grandfather had assumed the other had talked to her about the legend of the forest. Kagome had no idea.

Which was why when she came upon a single, thin tree in a forest full of bamboos, she approached the curiosity with not an ounce of hesitancy. It was to her delight that she found cherry blossoms on the wilting branches. She began picking the flowers, paying no attention to the fact that the blossoms were blooming out of season…and the set of stones laid out around the strange tree formed a concentric ring.

“You’ve got some nerve stealing from my mother’s tree,” a rough voice spoke following an inhuman growl. “This won’t go unpunished, little thief.”

Kagome began to turn, still clueless to the true depth of her predicament.

This was fun to make. Might make a continuation. Though this was just an excuse to use the popular kimono patterns.

Edit: I made part 2. Enjoy!
